Will I receive an ijaazah after completing the memorization of the Quran?

No, after completing the Quran Memorization course, a student will be awarded a certificate only. To receive an approved ijaazah, join our Ijaazah program. For more details, visit: http://www.iou-gqmc.com/ijazah/

Will the live classes be recorded?

Yes, the live sessions are recorded. This is to have evidence in case of any complaint from the student’s side or from the teacher. In this way, the administrator has the opportunity to return to the recording and investigate the problem. Note that the recordings are kept under highly restrictive secrecy, and they are automatically removed from Zoom every two weeks.

What kind of certificate will I receive upon completion of the Quran Memorization program?

The Certificate of Quran Memorization is an official document issued by the International Open University, which informs that you have completed the memorization of the entire Quran within 4 to 5 years. Hence, it can be used to apply for a Qur’an teaching position in any institute or school.

Where does the study take place?

The International Open University is an online educational resource. The entire program is taught online via Internet. Anybody from any part of the world can join easily and benefit from it, insha Allah.

What if I have a slow Internet connection?

Since the program is completely based on the live classes, it is compulsory that the students have a high speed Internet connection to make the best use of all the services.

Is an English language certification like TOEFL or IELTS required?

No. English language certification(s) is not a requirement to apply for Quran Memorization program. However, you should be aware that English is the medium of instruction in the entire program.

Will the classes be conducted in the month of Ramadan?

The classes during Ramadan will be conducted as always. However, teachers have a right to cancel the live sessions during the last 10 days of Ramadan. These sessions will not be made up for.
Additionally, the first two days of Eid are officially off.

Can I enroll in more than one group simultaneously?

No, you cannot. In order to benefit from the chosen group as much as possible and avoid any confusion that may come from attending more than one group at the same time, students are not permitted to follow more than one group simultaneously.

I have paid the fees but I have not enrolled in any group yet. Can I enroll later and what will happen with the payments I have already made?

Yes, you can enroll in the next batch. Please contact us at gqmc.helpdesk@iou.edu.gm with the choice of the month you want the payments to be transferred to.

What happens if a student enrolls in a group but then it turns out that s/he does not know tajweed rules well enough?

In such case, the student is obliged to take Tajweed Diploma course along with the Hifdh course. Nevertheless, the student may continue memorizing while working on his/her tajweed.

When is the enrollment open?

The enrollment is open from 1st to 10th of every month.

I paid the fee and enrolled in a group. What next?

You may enter your course page and begin attending the live sessions according to the class schedule.

Do I need to pay any fee to study at the GQMC?

Yes, you need to pay a modest registration fee for each month you are enrolled in. To see the sliding scale fees, please visit: www.iou-gqmc.com/sliding-scale-fees/

I am enrolled in a group. What shall I do to continue studying in the upcoming month?

You simply need to pay the next month’s registration fee on time.

I was unenrolled since I did not pay on time, can I pay now and join my old group again?

In most cases, it is possible. However, to ensure there still is a seat for you in the group, contact us at gqmc.helpdesk@iou.edu.gm

I have received an email to reupload my photo/ID scan/recitation link. What do I do once I have taken care of that?

Once you have reuploaded your photo/ID scan/recitation link, email us at gqmc.helpdesk@iou.edu.gm so that we may verify the status of your uploads. Insha Allah.

What is a photo ID?

A photo ID is a legal identity document with your photograph in it (e.g. national ID card, passport, driver’s license, etc.). The document must be valid and include your full name and birth date.

How do I virtually sign the disclaimer form?

After reading carefully the disclaimer, sign it in the registration form by ticking the last box “Disclaimer” which states: “I have read and agree to the Disclaimer Form of GQMC”. There is no need to submit a document with your traditional signature.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

In order to reset your password, click on the ‘forgotten password’ button located just under the log in fields. If your password reset was not successful and you are still unable to log in, email at gqmc.helpdesk@iou.edu.gm . Please do not create a new account; having multiple accounts with IOU is not allowed under any circumstances.

I forgot my login credentials. What should I do?

Will the Certificate of Quran Memorization be attested?

Yes, it will be attested by Somalia’s Ministry of Culture and Higher Education. Insha Allah.

What software is used for the live classes?

Our teachers use Zoom for Education software.
